Badminton success for Year 9 Muhammed

General

Year 9 pupil Muhammed (know as Tahmid) has been playing badminton since the age of 10 and is a member of Badminton England, the organisation for all things badminton for everyone who wants to get involved whatever age, ability or gender. Muhammed has won many tournaments. His most recent achievement is winning silver in U15 Northumberland, bronze in singles and silver in mixed. 

He also plays for Yorkshire and is currently number 1 for the U14 team following the success of being the U12 Yorkshire champion.

Muhammed is in the elite perfomance centre for Hull and Sheffiled badminton club where he is being coached by ex England players.

PE teacher Mr Henderson said, ''Muhammed has settled in very well since starting Tranby this year. What he has acheived so far is fantastic. His passion for badminton is a joy to see and we look forward to seeing him progress thoughout the year. The fitness training for badminton focuses on speed, agility and endurance, with also strength and flexibility being important. We use these training techniques in games lessons which will help Muhammed maintain his fitness level for future competitions.''
