On Thursday 11 December, Tranby was transformed into a glittering winter wonderland as over 250 guests gathered for our spectacular Christmas Concert - an evening filled with music, laughter, community spirit, and unforgettable festive cheer!
The stage - adorned with Christmas trees, enchanting lighting and fresh foliage gathered from our very own grounds - set the perfect scene for what became one of our most memorable celebrations yet.
Led with passion and flair by Mrs Cook, the Music Department truly pulled out all the stops. More than 25 incredible acts took to the stage, offering a joyful mix of rock favourites, classical Christmas hymns, and festive favourites. Our talented pupils shone as they performed alongside staff and peers, showcasing musical leadership well beyond their years.
The evening marked a special debut performance by 'Snowasis,' taking to the stage as a band for the very first time. We celebrated brave first-time solo vocalists, and enjoyed a hilariously chaotic moment with a Boomwhacker performance that had the entire audience in stitches - especially the Year 7s, who relished the opportunity to (quite literally) bop their teachers on the head, all in the name of entertainment!
Adding to the festive atmosphere were our incredible PTA – Friends of Tranby, who generously volunteered their time to run the bar, serving mulled wine and seasonal treats that kept the audience warm and merry throughout the evening.
Our performers filled us with immense pride, not only with their talent, but with their enthusiasm. Their eagerness to take part ensured a programme bursting with variety and a hall filled with community spirit.
The excitement continued with a lively raffle, but the standout moment of the night came during the auction of a beautifully handcrafted bear, lovingly made by our wonderful LSA, Mrs Brett. The room erupted with applause as Mrs Barraclough secured the highest bid of £300. In a remarkable act of kindness, Mr Beckett pledged an additional £300 - should Mrs Brett be able to create a second bear - doubling the impact. It was a touching reminder of the extraordinary generosity that shines through when our community comes together for a meaningful cause.
And what a cause it was. Thanks to the kindness and compassion of everyone who attended, we are proud to announce that we raised over £2800 in support of Upper Sixth student Ruby and her fundraising efforts for Leukaemia care, in memory of her father. It was, in every sense, an evening that brought out the very best of Tranby.
A special thank you to our Facilities Team - the unseen heroes who work behind the scenes and ensure that events like this run smoothly and look beautiful.
And our heartfelt thanks to all of those who kindly donated raffle prizes and to our event sponsors:
What a night. What a community. What a celebration of music, generosity, and festive spirit. Thank you all for making it magical.
