A True Story of Love and Friendship at Tranby Croft

We are delighted to share a new research paper exploring the fascinating story of Muriel Wilson, daughter of Arthur and Mary Wilson, and her relationship with Winston Churchill, who visited Tranby Croft on several occasions.

Written over the course of a year by retired Head of Languages and school Governor, Gordon Stephenson, this original piece of research draws on rare photographs from the Wilson family album, held at the Hull History Centre, and excerpts from letters preserved in the Churchill Archive Centre. Together, they shed light on a personal friendship that has never been fully explored by historians.

With Gordon’s kind permission, the full document is now available to read, offering parents, pupils, colleagues, and local historians a unique glimpse into Tranby Croft’s remarkable history.
