Tranby Open Day 2025: A Celebration of Learning, Curiosity and Community
Our Whole School Open Day on Saturday was a huge success, with an incredible number of families joining us to see everything that makes our school so special.
We were thrilled to welcome many new families through our doors, as well as current Prep School pupils touring the Senior School in preparation for their exciting step up to Year 7.
From hands-on science experiments – including the ever-popular methane bubbles demonstration, where staff quite literally set their hands alight – to a fascinating rat dissection in Biology, our classrooms were buzzing with energy and excitement.
Every corner of the school had something to explore:
Art showcased a beautiful Harvest Festival display alongside creative card making and an exhibition of exceptional GCSE and A Level work.
English invited pupils to step into the world of literature by rolling dice to create their own villains, settings, and endings before folding their stories into origami books.
Design & Technology workshops saw pupils busy building stools, garden loungers and even racing Scalextric cars with 3D printed chassis.
Food Technology offered tasty treats with freshly made mini-pizzas and popcorn, while Geography, History and Languages challenged guests with interactive games and tasting activities.
Visitors enjoyed music from our talented young musicians, while interactive activities gave visitors the chance to have a go themselves in the music room.
A really popular activity of the day was the chance to experience Tranby’s Flying School. Visitors tested their skills on professional flight simulators, supported by our qualified instructors and Year 11 pupil Oliver, who has already earned his RAF Blue Wings qualification. Oliver guided families through the controls and shared his inspiring journey – a passion that began with one of Tranby’s own Careers Breakfasts.
We are enormously grateful to all the pupils who gave up their Saturday morning to be tour guides and subject ambassadors. They did a phenomenal job representing the school – so much so, that the sheer number of visitors meant we even ran out of guides at times! Their enthusiasm and pride in Tranby shone through at every turn.
Our Head, staff, and pupil community could not be more proud of how the day reflected the very best of Tranby – a school brimming with curiosity, talent and ambition.
Thank you to every family who joined us. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.
