Today is a very special day at Tranby as we celebrate an exceptional set of GCSE results – and, most importantly, the individual achievements, journeys and stories behind them.
We are immensely proud of every one of our Year 11 pupils who have achieved remarkable grades. But of course, GCSE results day is about far more than numbers on a page. It is a moment to recognise how far our young people have come, the challenges they have overcome, the progress they have made and the determination they have shown along the way.
And there is plenty to celebrate!
An Exceptional Set of Results
Half of all grades awarded this year were grades 9–7, broadly equivalent to A*–A under the previous GCSE grading system. Almost one in five grades was a grade 9, while nearly a quarter of our pupils achieved straight grades 7–9 across their GCSEs.
Highlights include:
- 50% of all grades awarded were grades 9–7
- 32% of all grades awarded were grades 9–8
- 23% of pupils achieved straight 9–7 grades
- 18% of all grades awarded were grade 9
- 10% of pupils achieved a grade 9 in both Maths and English
- Every subject surpassed nationally predicted grades, resulting in positive Value Added across the full range of subjects
These are outstanding achievements, and we are incredibly proud of the pupils and staff who have worked so hard to achieve them.
But while the headline figures are certainly worth celebrating, they only tell part of the story.
Celebrating every pupil and every journey
At Tranby, we know that every young person starts from a different place. They have different strengths, different challenges, different ambitions and different measures of success.
That is why we are just as proud of the pupils whose results represent exceptional progress from their individual starting points as we are of those who have achieved an extraordinary collection of grade 9s.
This year, we have seen some remarkable individual achievements.

What a remarkable achievement. Eva (L) also added a grade 8 in Further Maths to her incredible record, sitting 10 GCSEs instead of the standard 9. Incredible!

Isabella and Florence couldn't collect their results in person but we hope they are delighted!
For others, the achievement lies in just how far they have travelled. Noor B surpassed her expected grades in every subject, achieving three grades higher than predicted in both English Literature and English Language, and two grades higher across the three Sciences and Maths.
Lewis T also improved on his predicted grades in every subject, achieving two grades higher than expected across all three Sciences and three grades higher in both Spanish and Maths, where he achieved a grade 9.
Manha S achieved straight 9–7 grades, alongside making exceptional progress in the Sciences, achieving three grades higher than predicted across the three subjects.
Timmy C achieved two grades higher than expected in Maths, securing a grade 7 and placing him among the highest grades.
And Bongani achieved grade 9s in Biology and Chemistry and an 8 in Physics, improving by two grades across the Sciences. He also achieved an 8 in Maths – two grades higher than predicted.
Achieving above and beyond expectations

These individual stories are what make today so special. Behind every result is a young person who has worked hard, overcome challenges, grown in confidence and taken another important step towards their future.
More than grades
We are immensely proud of our pupils, our teachers and every member of the Tranby community who has contributed to these results.
We are proud of the academic achievement, of course. But we are equally proud of the young people receiving their results today – of the character they have developed, the resilience they have shown and the way they have supported one another throughout their time at Tranby.
Our pupils are not defined by a set of GCSE grades. They are kind, determined, curious, talented and ambitious young people, and it has been a privilege to watch them grow.
Today is about celebrating where they are now, while looking forward to where they will go next.
For many of our pupils, that next step will be continuing their journey with us into Tranby Sixth Form. We are delighted to see so many choosing to stay within the Tranby community, where they are already known, understood and supported by the people around them. They can continue to learn and grow in a familiar environment, surrounded by teachers who know their strengths, understand their ambitions and genuinely care about their future.
For those who follow a different path, we know they leave Tranby with far more than a set of qualifications. They take with them the confidence, character and determination to embrace new opportunities, make the most of their talents and look ahead with real belief in what they can achieve.
A community effort
Results like these do not happen by accident.
They are the result of the commitment and determination of our pupils, the expertise and encouragement of our teachers and support staff, and the unwavering support of our families.
We would like to thank every member of our community who has played a part in helping our Year 11 pupils reach this point.
And to our pupils: we could not be prouder of you.
Whatever your results today, take a moment to recognise what you have achieved and how far you have come. Celebrate your successes, be proud of your progress and look forward to the next chapter.
You have worked incredibly hard for this moment – and now it is time to enjoy it.
Looking ahead
Today's GCSE results follow the exceptional A Level results celebrated at Tranby last week, when 64% of students achieved A* or A grades, 80% achieved at least one A*–B grade and 96% secured their first-choice university destination.
Together, these results reflect the breadth of academic achievement across Tranby's Senior School and Sixth Form.
Pupils continuing their journey with us will continue their success in our recently refreshed Sixth Form which offers a broad range of A Level and vocational pathways, with a renewed focus on individual strengths, future aspirations and preparing young people for life beyond school.
For every member of our Year 11 cohort, however, today belongs to them.
