Sixth Form

Here at Tranby, we pride ourselves on the provision we offer in our Sixth Form. We provide a natural and engaging transition from GCSE to A Level, ensuring all of our students feel safe and happy with the choices they have made.

Empowering Future Leaders Through Opportunity

Students are nurtured, both academically and socially, and have the choice of a range of courses from traditional A Level subjects, through to BTEC qualifications. We actively encourage and promote activity outside of the classroom with our Enrichment Programme, volunteering, music, drama, art and sports offerings. Students spend the two years with us learning, not just through their subjects, but through leadership opportunities, a focused PSHCE programme and challenges that push themselves outside of their comfort zone.

Opening Doors to Future Success

Being part of the Sixth Form at Tranby opens doors. Doors to opportunity and success through our one to one UCAS and careers support, as well as unrivalled pastoral care. The majority of our A-Level students attend university and from choosing a course and applying, to interview preparation and finalising choices, we support them every step of the way. If it is a Higher Apprenticeship or the world of work that our students wish to go into, we have a dedicated careers advisor to support these decisions and choices. Whether joining us from our Senior School or joining Tranby at Sixth Form, we support our students in developing skills that will serve them throughout their lives, always pushing them to aim higher and maximise their potential. As a small Sixth Form, your child will never be just another face in the crowd. They are valued members of the Tranby community, well known to all our staff and held in high esteem by younger students.

Strengthening University Applications

As well as the ongoing 1-2-1 support and mentoring when it comes to personal statements and UCAS applicatins,  we also offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). An EPQ is a research-based project, on a topic of the student's choosing, that parallels to half an A Level. Many universities lower the grade requirement for courses based on a student’s EPQ. For example, if a university originally required AAB grades for entry, they might reduce this to ABB or BBB for a student who has successfully completed an EPQ, recognising the additional skills and effort involved in the qualification. This is because the EPQ demonstrates important academic skills such as research, time management, and independent study, which are invaluable at university level.
Wherever students wish to go and whatever path they wish to take, we always provide guided support and help that propels them as they venture into life after school.

Young adults leave Tranby confident, well educated, well rounded and ready for their next adventure, whatever that may be.
