Welcome from the Head of Tranby - Chris Wainman
I wish you a warm personal welcome to Tranby. I hope our website gives you a glimpse into life at our remarkable school, where every member of staff is deeply committed to bringing out the very best in your child. Whether their ambitions are to achieve academic excellence in the sciences or the arts, to shine on the sports field or the stage, in quiet reflection or lively debate, Tranby is a place where they will be known, valued, and inspired to succeed.
The true spirit of our school can only be felt in person — when you walk through our doors, see our pupils in action, and sense the warmth of our community. I would be delighted to meet you on a personal visit or at one of our open days so you may experience this for yourselves.
I have seen first-hand how Tranby nurtures potential from the very first steps of exploration in The Croft Nursery, to the moment our Sixth Form pupils step confidently into the world at 18. Each child is embraced as an individual, known for who they are, and encouraged to have boundless ambitions. We nurture self-confidence and the skills to lead, innovate, and shape their own futures. With genuine care and ambitious hopes for their future, we guide them to discover their strengths, rise to challenges, and leave us fully prepared to make their mark on the world.
Our pupils grow into self-assured, thoughtful young people — comfortable in who they are and respectful of those around them. They carry with them strong values, a curiosity for the world, and a determination to contribute to it. With firm academic foundations and a spirit of service, they leave Tranby ready not only to succeed in their chosen paths, but to make a meaningful difference in their communities and far beyond.
What sets Tranby apart is our commitment to every individual child. Through engaging, creative teaching, exceptional pastoral care, and a rich tapestry of co-curricular opportunities, we help each pupil uncover their passions, develop their talents, and grow in confidence. In doing so, we not only prepare them for academic success, but also for a life filled with purpose, and possibility.
I am enormously proud to lead a school community where every child is known, supported, and inspired to achieve their best. Our dedicated staff, supportive families, and vibrant pupils share a common purpose: to nurture potential, spark curiosity, and celebrate success. Here, trust and respect underpin all we do, learning is a source of joy, and every milestone matters.
Please accept my invitation to visit us and experience the warmth and ambitious spirit that make Tranby unique. I would be delighted to meet you, hear about your child’s hopes and aspirations, and show you first-hand why the education and opportunities we provide are worth every investment and sacrifice our families make. At Tranby, the rewards and friendships last a lifetime, and you will be sure of the warmest of welcomes.
