Today we celebrate a fantastic set of A Level and vocational results with our students and their families, with this year's cohort achieving strong results across a broad range of subjects and some exceptional individual performances.
Notably, 80% of the cohort achieved at least one A* to B grade, demonstrating the breadth of strong academic achievement across this year's Sixth Form.
96% of students secured an offer from their first choice university, with 100% accepting an offer from either their first or insurance choice university.
Strong results across the cohort
This year's results also demonstrate the progress pupils have made during their time at Tranby, with a significant improvement in value added across the cohort. Value added measures the progress pupils make compared with what might have been expected from their prior attainment. In simple terms, it helps us understand whether pupils have achieved stronger results than their starting points would have predicted. At Tranby, overall results value added improved by 0.23 this year.
The proportion of pupils achieving the highest grades has also increased significantly, with:
- 14% of all grades awarded at A*
- 33% of grades at A* to A
- 66% of grades at A* to B
outstanding individual performances
With so many incredible success stories to share, we couldn't possibly list them all here, but we would like to highlight a handful that represent the breadth of study and individual accomplishment.
- Ruby achieved A*, A and B and will go on to study Veterinary Medicine at The University of Bristol – a dream she’s held since being a little girl.
- Lucy achieved an impressive A*, A*, B and will read English and Film at The University of Leeds.
- Emily and Alice both achieved A*, A, B. Emily will read Geography at Durham University and Alice is excited to read French, also at Durham.
- Louis B achieved four A Levels, including an A in Mathematics and B grades in Further Mathematics, Physics and Economics, will read Aeronautical Engineering at Loughborough University.
- Louis R achieved A, B, B and will read Maths at the University of Leeds.
- Meanwhile, Belle achieved a B in A-Level Photography alongside D*, D*, D* in BTEC Sport – the equivalent of three A* A-Levels! Belle will read Sport, Physical Education and Coaching Science at the University of Birmingham.
- Zara achieved D*, D* and B and has an offer to read Events Management at Leeds Beckett University.
- Amelia secured A, A, B in Photography, Textiles and Fine Art, giving her a tremendous platform into Interior Design or Fashion after her Gap Year.
Excellence across the curriculum
The results also highlight the strength of individual subjects across the Sixth Form.
Tranby is renowned for its outstanding sporting facilities and teaching, and this is reflected in an exceptional 100% of BTEC Sport grades being awarded at Distinction* to Distinction. Distinction* is equivalent to an A* at A-Level, while a Distinction is equivalent to an A.
There were also excellent results across a range of academic and creative subjects:
- Geography: 50% of grades at A*
- English Literature: 20% of grades at A*
- Mathematics: 20% of grades at A*, with 60% at A* to A
- Textiles: 33% of grades at A*, with 67% at A* to A
Together, these results demonstrate the breadth of opportunities available within Tranby's Sixth Form, with pupils achieving highly across both traditional academic subjects and specialist creative and vocational pathways.
Tranby achieves outstanding a level results
This year's destinations reflect the breadth of talent within Tranby Sixth Form. In the same cohort we have a future vet, a doctor, aeronautical and aerospace engineers, a psychologist, linguists, a lawyer, an optometrist, a motorsport driver and a sports coach - pupils who will fill lecture theatres at Durham, Bristol, Birmingham, Bath, Loughborough, Newcastle and beyond, alongside others who have chosen degree apprenticeships and farm management. You can ask me about the increasing percentage of A*s and As and I will happily tell you - but ask me how Ruby has done, or what Ejab, Leon or Lauren are going on to do next, and you will see where my real pride lies.
Particularly inspiring is Belle; her results this year sit around two and a half grades above what her GCSE results and standardised testing predicted was possible - a reminder that the number on the certificate only ever tells part of the story, and that the real measure of this year's cohort is how far each individual has travelled to get here. Their successes are a powerful reminder that young people are far more than a set of predictions, and that with determination, expert teaching and the right support, remarkable things can happen.
Zac achieved B, B, C and is heading to the University of Bath to read Chinese and French.
I am incredibly grateful to every pupil in this year group for the commitment, resilience and character they have shown throughout their time at Tranby, and to our dedicated staff and supportive families, whose guidance and encouragement have helped them flourish. Behind every grade is an individual young person with their own talents, aspirations and story, and we celebrate every one of them today.
I have every confidence this cohort will go on to achieve extraordinary things beyond our gates."

An ambitious and accessible Sixth Form
The results come at an exciting time for Tranby, with our Sixth Form recently undergoing a significant refresh.
The renewed Sixth Form has a strong focus on making an excellent education more accessible to local pupils, while ensuring students are prepared not only to achieve their very best in their examinations, but to thrive beyond Tranby.
Fees have been significantly reduced, while the approach to subject choices and future pathways has been strengthened. Pupils work closely with their teachers and Careers Coordinator, Jo Harding, to ensure their programmes of study play to their individual strengths, ambitions and aspirations.
Louis R is heading to Leeds to study Maths.
Today's results are a reflection of the hard work, determination and character of pupils throughout their time at Tranby, alongside the commitment of teaching and support staff and the encouragement of families.
