The Junior Open exhibition has been held annually at the Ferens Art Gallery since 2004. It celebrates the creative talent of young people in Hull and the surrounding area. Artworks are submitted by individuals, schools and local community groups, aged 15 and under. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were unable to hold the 2020 Junior Open exhibition on site, instead they have been encouraging children and young people to get involved digitally, by submitting artworks for inclusion in their very first digital Junior Open.
The digital Junior Open will provide a platform to showcase the creativity of children and young people throughout 2020. The exhibition won’t be about prizes, it’s all about celebrating and championing children’s creativity in the face of the pandemic, hoping it will reflect young peoples’ experiences of 2020, their hopes and dreams – and simply their love of making art!
