Miss Marsh

Miss Marsh currently plays hockey for Thirsk, having played at City of York and Pocklington, and has represented North Yorkshire at county and regional level and is now a lead coach for the North Yorkshire county squads. A keen tennis player, she captains Sutton on Derwent mixed team in the York League and plays Ladies tennis for Pocklington.

Miss Marsh completed her degree at York St John University studying PE & Sports Coaching before working for 2 years as a graduate sports assistant at Pocklington School, where she had attended as a pupil. She then completed her Secondary PE PGCE at Sheffield Hallam to qualify as a teacher.

She said, “I have always had a love and passion for sport. Whilst growing up I would spend any opportunity outside in the garden or hitting a tennis ball against the wall, which my parents found very annoying. I always knew I wanted a career in sport, but it wasn’t until secondary school and GCSE PE that I knew I wanted to become a PE teacher. I credit my sports teachers for inspiring and supporting me to achieve this goal. This has made me want to provide the students that I teach with the same opportunities and be the inspiring teacher that can help them achieve the goals and career paths they hope to follow.”
