What a wonderful afternoon we had, celebrating the successes of our outstanding Senior School students on Friday 2nd May.
On Friday 2nd May, our community came together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students at the annual Prize Giving Ceremony for Years 7 to 13.
The afternoon began with a first-class lunch provided by Lexington Independent Catering for members of the Leadership Team, guest speaker Bryan Hughes, and the Local Governing Body. This warm gathering set the tone for a special day of recognition, pride and reflection.
Held in the Sports Hall, the ceremony was attended by more than 150 parents and guests, all welcomed by Paul Grimwood, Chair of the Local Governing Body. Acting Headmistress, Cath Sweeting gave a heartfelt address, praising the commitment, resilience and character shown by students throughout the academic year.
The audience were treated to a series of impressive musical performances, including introductory pieces by Year 13 student Finlay on piano, Year 8 students George and Toby on violin, and a stirring performance of Palladio by The String Ensemble.
Later, Year 9 student Eliza delivered a beautiful rendition of Concerto No 5 in D Major on violin, and the event closed with an uplifting performance of Together in Electric Dreams by Head Girl Megan who impressed with both her vocal and piano playing talents.
The reports were presented with confidence and clarity by our senior pupils, Alice, Ejab, Will, George, Zac and Lauren, who shared highlights from the year, covering sport, performing arts and extra-curricular activities. Head Boy Louis concluded the ceremony with a thoughtful reading of the school prayer.
We were honoured to welcome Bryan Hughes as our guest speaker. A former Premier League footballer, Bryan spoke about the lessons he learned during a professional career that spanned nearly 500 appearances, including matches against some of the greatest players of the modern era. Now a UEFA A licensed coach and mentor at the i2i International Soccer Academy, Bryan offered inspirational words about teamwork, determination and finding purpose beyond the pitch.
The ceremony celebrated excellence across academic subjects, sport, the performing arts and school service. Particular recognition was given to our Year 13 pupils, with subject prizes marking the culmination of their time at Tranby. The full list of awards can be viewed here: Prize winners
After the ceremony, prize winners and their families were invited to the Drawing Room for refreshments and the chance to celebrate their success together.
