Author Tom Palmer Visits Tranby

General

On Wednesday 8th November, we were delighted to welcome award-winning children’s author Tom Palmer back to Tranby. Tom has written 60 books for children on exciting topics such as football, rugby, spies, detectives, ghosts, history, and war.

As part of the English and History curricula and our promotion of reading for pleasure, Tom ran a series of interactive workshops with pupils from Years 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8, sharing some of the sources of his inspiration and talking about how he develops his ideas into books. The children were privileged to see the scrapbook he had compiled as part of his research for one of his latest novels, Resist, which is inspired by the Dutch Second World War resistance childhood of Audrey Hepburn, and the children asked lots of great questions about his writing, research and what being an author is really like.
