Tranby Boys Portugal Football Tour 2025

Tranby Boys Portugal Football Tour 2025

Fifteen Tranby boys from Years 8, 9 and 10 recently returned from an unforgettable football tour to Lisbon, Portugal - and what a blast they had!

The five-day trip was packed with professional training, competitive matches, and plenty of adventure, all set against the stunning backdrop of Costa da Caparica, a surfer’s paradise on the Atlantic coast.
During the tour, the boys took part in two elite training sessions at the world-renowned Benfica Academy, where they were coached by top-level professionals. A highlight for many was the behind-the-scenes stadium tour of Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, home to one of Europe’s most historic clubs.

The team also played two competitive fixtures against Portuguese football clubs. They put in a dominant performance against ADCEO FC, securing an impressive 6–1 win, and battled hard in a challenging game against Águias de Camarate FC, which ended in a 4–1 loss.

Off the pitch, the boys embraced Portuguese culture and coastline with a surfing lesson, where they were naturals in the waves, and attended a Primeira Liga clash between Sporting Lisbon and Braga FC, soaking up the electric atmosphere of top-tier Portuguese football.
Tour captain Oliver led the team with maturity and spirit throughout the trip.

Whether playing matches, enjoying downtime on the beach, or dining together in local restaurants, the boys consistently represented Tranby in a way that made us very proud.

A special mention goes to Y9 student, Jack, who unfortunately broke his leg shortly before the trip but still came along and was made the team’s ‘Assistant Coach’ - embodying the team spirit that made this tour so memorable.

Well done, boys, you were a credit to Tranby every step of the way!
