GCSE Results 2023

General

In a challenging national context, Tranby is proud indeed of it's Year 11s today. We continue to build on our positive trajectory, with results in 2023 improving on 2019, including over twice as many grade 9s awarded to our pupils.

Although all pupils in the year have achieved well and deserve celebration, we wanted to draw particular attention to some of the cohort and their achievements this year.

Always a leading figure in Tranby’s dramatic performances and a stalwart exemplar pupil across her subjects, Phoebe has always been equally celebrated across academic disciplines. Here results attest to this broad base of excellence, as today Phoebe earned eight grade 9s and two grade 8s.

You may recently have seen Abigail, who sings with the Beverley Minster Choir, appearing in the national finals of the BBC Young Chorister of the Year competition, where she was one of only 10 outstanding young singers to be selected. In her GCSEs, Abigail earned five grade 9s, three grade 8s and two grade 7s.

As the standout lead in our recent showing of ‘Blood Brothers’, with a powerful and moving performance as Mickey, Will’s promise on the stage is matched by his achievements in the exam hall. He earned eight grade 7-9s and two grade 6s.

A leading figure in the school’s hockey team, Ruby has represented the school in the first team across a range of sports. Today she matched her abilities on the pitch with excellent results, securing two grade 8s, four grade 7s, three grade 6s and one 5.

If you have attended one of our recent music concerts, you will have certainly enjoyed hearing Megan either signing solo, or while also on piano. Megan secured three grade 9s, four grade 7s, two grade 6s and one grade 5.

We also wanted to celebrate some pupils who go on to exciting and unique paths now their GCSEs are complete. Tom was very pleased with the strength of his results. He has already joined Grimsby Town FC youth team as a full-time player, recently accompanying them for a summer football tour of Italy. We wish him the very best with his sporting career!

Alex Wilson, Headmistress, said:

“This cohort of pupils includes some who have been with us since nursery, and some who joined us in Year 7. Together, they have all been encouraged, supported and enthused by our excellent teaching and pastoral care. These results today are a well-earned testament to their intellectual curiosity, their reliance and their tenacity. These wonderful young people have had their genuine academic strength rewarded with these grades. I wish each and every one of them well done.”
