Year 9 Historians' Visit to the National Holocaust Centre and Museum

General

Year 9 pupils are studying the 20th Century, which includes the study of Nazi Germany, World War Two and the Holocaust. To support their understanding of this topic, the History Department took the year group to visit the National Holocaust Centre and Museum.

During the day pupils took part in an educator-led programme which considered the choices made by ordinary people and the extent to which they contributed to the Holocaust. This helps develop pupils knowledge of the events, and their awareness of the causes and complexities of the Holocaust. During the programme pupils visited the Holocaust exhibition, the memorial gardens and participated in a workshop exploring 'choices'.

The day ended with an online meeting with Eva Clarke, one of the few remaining survivors who donated a book called 'Born Survivors' to our school library.
