Now exams have come to an end, Year 8 are looking at Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. In this lesson, 8Q looked at how the English language has developed over time and did an excellent job translating the prologue from Middle to Modern English. Over the next few lessons, they will be looking at how Chaucer has influenced contemporary texts (such as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and will be creating performances of their own allegorical tale. It has been great to see this group rise up to the challenge and enjoy a text which is arguably the foundation of English Literature.
