New teacher profile - meet Mrs Murphy

General

Mrs Murphy is from Altrincham near Manchester and moved to Hull 15 years ago to study Philosophy at University of Hull before moving to Grimsby for her first teaching post. She moved back to Hull 18 months later to become a Subject Leader for Religious Education.

She has held various leadership roles and has been trained by Tom Sherington and Oliver Caviglioli to deliver Teaching WalkThrus to schools nationally. Mrs Murphy has two young daughters with whom she enjoys spending time reading, baking and going to the theatre. She is a keen cook and has recently started a small business selling cheesecakes in her spare time!

Mrs Murphy’s vision for Tranby is that all students enjoy the challenge of academically rigorous Religious Studies lessons; that lessons, trips and activities will nurture their love of learning and inspire them to consider developing their knowledge of religion, ethics and philosophy to GCSE, A Level and beyond.

Mrs Murphy also teaches in the Sixth From and is greatly looking forward to providing opportunities within and outside of lessons for students to develop their understanding and application of careers tied to philosophy, religion, ethics and law. She is also Principal Examiner for the Eduqas exam board.

You can meet Mrs Murphy along with other teachers at our Senior School Open Evening on Tuesday 7th March, 4pm-6pm.
