Yesterday was the first of our PSHE drop-down mornings for the academic year in the Senior School. We welcomed two guest speakers; Ms Rebecca Jennings and Dr Aric Sigman who spoke to the girls and boys respectively about relationships.

Ms Jennings has over 18 years of experience delivering age-appropriate Relationship and Sex Education and training to primary & secondary schools; she is a writer and author and has been commissioned to write for a number of education providers. Rebecca also consulted with the Department of Education as a subject matter expert to advise around the staff training element of Relationships, Health and Sex education.

Dr Sigman has a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in the Neurophysiological Basis of Behaviour and a Ph.D. in the field of the role of attention in autonomic nervous system self-regulation. He has also worked on teenage health education campaigns with the Department of Health, is a peer reviewer for numerous medical journals and is the author of five books on PSHE-related topics including Getting Physical which won The Times Educational Supplement's Information Book Award.

The sessions were split by Key Stage to allow for differentiation of age-appropriate subject matter. They covered how to build respectful, healthy relationships with clear and appropriate boundaries agreed on through honest and open conversation between both parties.
