Senior School Sports Day 2022

Senior School Sports Day 2022

General

Sports Day on Monday 27 June, was brilliant despite the mixed bag of weather. This was due to the tremendous collective attitude of the Tranby community; of staff, parents and pupils. Whilst the following trophies have been awarded – Holtby as House Champions; and Athletes of the Day awarded for the pupils who scored the highest number of points: Jack and Evelyn; there were many other fantastic performances, that we would like to mention.

First we would like to congratulate the pupils who had individual superb performances. There were three records broken, a massive feat as these records have been collected over seventeen years, and have been set by some superb athletes, who have gone on to represent the area at the English Schools Athletics Championships, and won medals, the pinnacle for any young athlete.

Other noticeable performances:

Year 7 girls: Eva S, Emily C and Megan Winter who all scored over 50 points for their houses.

Year 7 boys: Henry Cooke, Corey Dickenson and Luke Grater deserve special mentions for achieving over 50 points each for their houses in various events.

Year 8 girls: Nina B-P who threw the shot, javelin and discus exceptionally well, and Erin R who scored the most points out of the girls in her year group. Also, a massive mention to Bella N and Catherine H who went out of their comfort zones to represent their respective houses.

Year 8 boys: As well as Jack wright getting the male athlete of the day a big mention should also go to Luca Barker for getting 52 points for his house.

Year 9 girls: Beulah I for gaining the most points for her house, and to Amelia S who won her 3 individual events.

Year 9 boys: It goes without saying that participation for the year 9 boys in many different events was very high, but we must mention Leo Zost-Cross for winning 4 events on the day and breaking the 200m record (see above for times).

Year 10 girls: Ruby B won the most points and also had 5 wins, Paula O, Eve P and Carys H who were great sports and did everything in their power to maximise points for their houses.

Year 10 boys: The boys took part in great numbers from year 10 with a special mention need to go to Tom Rennardson for being awarded 5 wins and 1 second place and Eddie Cain and Jayden Stanley for getting over 40 points each for their houses.

Senior pupils: To all the senior girls who attended and entered into the spirit of the event wholeheartedly and in particular to George Rice who won 3 events and 56 points for his house.

We deeply apologise if we have missed anyone out; because all pupils who were present deserve a mention. There are many who should celebrate: gaining points for their house, running a race in-front of everyone even though they dread the limelight, doing as many events as possible to maximise points for the house, and most importantly doing their best.

Thank you to Miss Davis for organising and all the staff for assisting on the day.
