Tranby Strength & Conditioning Programme

Why is the Partnership Important?

Alongside the wide range of sports and activities we offer outside of the school curriculum and extra-curricular offering, it is with great excitement that we are able to offer this Strength & Conditioning programme that fits into pupil's timetabled Games lesson time from Year 9.

It is at this point during their school life that pupils begin to realise where their real interests and passions lie. The S&C programme aims to give them a richer offering to incorporate sports and physical activity that they are likely to pursue after their time at school. Additionally, pupils become confident in a gym environment and are able to develop fitness programmes that suit them. The block of sessions will also include fitness benchmark tests to track progress and set targets for pupils to aim for.

Strength and Conditioning is only one element of the programme. Each session also incorporates practical life skills that help pupils discover and develop their potential. Alongside conditioning the body, we focus on conditioning the mind.

Tommy Coyle plays an integral role in the programme, sharing lessons from his sporting career, business ventures and personal experiences. Working with Tranby pupils, he explores the 'what', 'why' and 'how' of achieving more, helping them build resilience, confidence and the mindset to succeed both in and beyond school.

Pupils may wish to dip in and out of the S&C programme according to the the sports being played/taught in school during that term.
