In October, students from Year 9 - Year 12 embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Norway, a trip packed with incredible landscapes, history, and snow-covered experiences!
What better way to spend the October half term than with a thoroughly 'refreshing' (COLD) trip to stunning Norway!
The journey began late on Monday, October 21st, when the group touched down in Bergen, eventually arriving at the historic Grand Hotel Terminus. Early the next morning, they set out to explore Bergen, discovering its rich heritage with a local guide. A highlight was the funicular ride up Mount Fløyen, where students were treated to breathtaking panoramic views over the city.
On Tuesday afternoon, they ventured to two remarkable waterfalls. The first, an impressive roadside cascade in Tysse, set the scene before visiting Steindalsfossen, where students enjoyed a unique chance to walk behind the waterfall! That evening, they arrived at Hardangertun Holiday Park, settling into cozy cabins that would be their base for the next few days. 🏞

Wednesday brought a day of snow and excitement! After an inspiring morning at the Norwegian Nature Centre, students explored the snowy Hardangervidda Plateau, which quickly turned into an epic snowball battleground. Nature didn’t disappoint—besides stunning views, they even spotted a lemming dashing through the snow. The afternoon took them to the awe-inspiring Vøringsfossen waterfall, with its thrilling bridge crossing, and the impressive Sysendammen dam, a marvel of Norwegian engineering.
The highlight for many came on Thursday: snowshoeing across a glacier with Folgefonni Breførarlag. This was an extraordinary opportunity to experience Norway’s raw beauty up close, taking in the vastness of the glacier in an adventure that challenged and thrilled.
On Friday, they enjoyed a relaxed morning exploring Bergen, with a final ride up Mount Fløyen to savor the view one last time before heading home.
It was a week filled with exploration, awe, and memories that will last a lifetime!
