Playdate with Parents

Wednesday February 04, 2026 to Monday May 18, 2026

Playdates with Parents at The Croft Preschool & Reception

Join us for a Playdate with Parents session at The Croft Preschool and Reception, a wonderful opportunity to experience our custom-built early years and Reception environment and discover how we give children the very best start to their educational journey.

Led by our team of fully qualified teachers and experienced nursery nurses, The Croft provides a warm, inspiring setting where children are encouraged to explore, build confidence, and develop socially in preparation for the next stages of school life.

During the session, children and parents will enjoy age-appropriate activities, meet our friendly team, and explore the learning spaces that support confidence, curiosity, and early independence.

Explorers (Ages 1–2)
Our Explorers sessions are ideal for families with children aged 1–2 years who are considering our Preschool/Reception setting.
Dates: Monday 16 March – Monday 18 May 2026
Time: 9:30 – 10:30
Book here: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/FVZJ

Adventurers (ages 3-4)

For families joining our Reception setting in September 2026, we would recommend joining this playdate with parents session and applying for a place in our preschool as soon as possible. This ensures your child experiences familiar routines that mirror those of Reception, helping to build confidence, independence, and readiness for primary school. You may wish to split your child’s time with another preschool setting.
Dates: Wednesday 4 February or Wednesday 11 March 2026
Time: 10:00 – 11:00
Book here: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/FVZF

We can't wait to welcome you!

Tranby Croft History Tours

Sunday March 01, 2026 to Sunday May 17, 2026

Head of Languages and resident Tranby archivist, Gordon Stephenson, is once again offering history tours of the stunning Tranby Croft.
With exclusive access to unseen areas of the school and more information on Tranby Croft than you could shake a pack of playing cards at, the tours include the infamous Baccarat Room, family reception rooms, and the tower.

There are two different tours to choose from:

  1. The Wilsons and Tranby CroftA truly wonderful tour for history lovers, you'll find out why Winston Churchill visited Tranby on several occasions, discover the extraordinary life of William Gordon-Cumming — landowner, decorated soldier, socialite and scandal-figure — and learn why Tranby Croft was at the centre of a notorious cheating scandal in 1890. You’ll also explore the legends surrounding the mysterious Grey Lady, Tranby Croft’s role during the Second World War, and learn about some of the princes, politicians, writers and explorers who passed through its doors. The story also brings to life Mary Wilson, known as Hull’s ‘Fairy Godmother’, and what became of the house after it left the Wilson family.

Alongside the history, you’ll have the chance to admire the house itself — from its beautiful painted ceilings and carved dragons and gargoyles, to a rare opportunity to climb the tower (weather permitting).
    Available dates: Sunday's March 1, April 19 and May 17. 10:00 - 12:00.

  2. Hull High School for Girls Tour:
Go back to your school days and revisit old classrooms, boarding rooms, and other areas of the school that hold a special place in your memory.  Gordon is happy to accommodate your requests, so let him know where you would like to revisit, and this can be incorporated into the tour.  All proceeds from the HHSG tours support the Tranby Trust (charity no. 1079653) and the development of the school archives.
    Available dates: Sunday March 1 13:00 - 15:00 and Sunday April 19 12:30 - 14:30.

With such a rich heritage and history, tours of Tranby Croft are insightful and entertaining, plus they are open to all, so please do share with your friends and family.
Tickets are £10 and must be purchased in advance. Click below to book your slot.

Tranby Careers Compass Evening

Wednesday March 25, 2026

17:30

We are delighted to invite you to the free Careers Compass at Tranby for children and young adults in Y7 - Y13. This is a rare opportunity to access our highly regarded careers guidance and support, completely free of charge. This event is specifically for external students, as Tranby pupils have full access to our outstanding careers provision built in to their education and timetabled lessons.

Tranby’s careers provision is respected both locally and further afield. Our Careers Coordinator, Jo Harding, is so well regarded that universities recommend Tranby to their own students seeking meaningful work experience, so we are sure you will find the evening insightful and valuable for your child.

During the evening, attendees will take part in a combination of online and paper-based profiling activities, designed to explore personality types, strengths, and potential career pathways.

These insights are particularly valuable when making decisions about GCSE and A Level subject choices, or even next steps after A-Levels when considering university or work.

We know that when pupils can see a clear link between their subjects and a future career they are interested in, they become more engaged, motivated, and enthusiastic about their learning. This evening is not only about careers, it’s about helping young people choose subjects and pathways they are more likely to enjoy, succeed in, and feel confident about.

This event is:
•    Completely free of charge
•    Open to local students in Years 7–13
•    Running from 17:30–19:30 on Wednesday 25 March
•    A fantastic opportunity for young people to get to know themselves better and feel more confident about the choices ahead.

Over many years, Jo has worked tirelessly to build strong connections with local employers and businesses across a wide range of industries, opening doors to opportunities young people may never have considered.

What truly sets her apart is her exceptional ability to understand what makes young people tick. She has a unique talent for helping pupils discover career paths that align with their interests, strengths, and personalities - often revealing options they didn’t even know existed.

Spaces are limited to 25 so please book early to avoid disappointment and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity.
