What Makes Tranby Sixth Form Different?
Choosing where to study after GCSEs is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. At Tranby, we believe transparency, personalised support, and genuine opportunity set us apart. Here’s what you can expect at Tranby - and what you should get at any Sixth Form worth considering.
Tailored University and Career Guidance
Every Tranby student receives in depth, expert support with university applications, career planning, personal statements, and interview preparation. Our UCAS success rate is outstanding, and we take the time to understand each student’s individual ambitions.
Nurturing Young Professionals
Students leave Tranby with a professional LinkedIn profile, polished CV and cover letter, meaningful work experience, and exposure to leadership and volunteering opportunities. They also gain practical experience in key professional skills, including academic writing, referencing, and public speaking.
First-Choice University Success
Last year, 96% of our Sixth Formers secured a place at their first-choice university. The remaining 4% secured their second place. We don't just list destinations - we measure success by how well students achieve their personal goals.
Classes Where Everyone Counts
Our Sixth Form classes are deliberately kept at a size that ensures every student is seen, heard, and supported. Unlike larger colleges, our learning environment allows for lively debate, meaningful discussion, and strong relationships between students and teachers, where no one has to shout to be heard. Big enough to challenge ideas, small enough that no one gets lost in the crowd.
Ongoing Progress Tracking and Support
We closely monitor academic progress and intervene early if a student begins to struggle. Vitally, parents and carers are kept in the loop with fortnightly progress reports. Our approach is proactive, not reactive, and no one is left to fall behind. We never remove students from courses they want to stay on, we work with them to ensure they grasp the concepts and become subject specialists in their own right.
Business Casual Dress Code
At Tranby Sixth, students dress for success.
What they wear reflects their ambition, maturity, and professionalism - helping to build the mindset and confidence they’ll carry into life beyond school.
Our students stand out for all the right reasons.
Freedom with Purpose
Tranby Sixth students are trusted to leave the school site during non-timetabled periods, using this time responsibly and independently.
We closely monitor academic progress and, if a student begins to fall behind, these privileges may be temporarily paused. In such cases, study periods will take place in school to help them get back on track and reach their full potential.
Tranby Pastoral Support
We are proudly known locally as a school that offers a warm and nurturing environment. This extends throughout Sixth Form with weekly pastoral touchpoints designed specifically to meet the needs and interests of Sixth Form students.
