Year 9 Languages Day

Year 9 Languages Day

General

Yesterday pupils in Year 9 immersed themselves in Languages Day. They learnt that the importance of languages not only improves your memory and increases your brain capacity, but also has huge benefits when applying to universities and prospective employers. Languages help you learn different cultures and with just a little knowledge of a language, you can communicate.

The day started with the benefits of Latin followed by other languages. Research shows that learning Latin leads to pupils scoring higher in other curriculum areas. The more you learn of Latin, the better you may well be at many other subjects. To succeed in an increasingly complex workplace, you’ll need flexible minds that can readily absorb new information and respond to complex problems.

Pupils enjoyed a range of activities including a Euro Quiz, a treasure hunt and cooking a variety of dishes; Indian samosa, Jordanian hummus, Guatemalan chicken and Russian pancakes.

Thank you to Mrs Pick for organising the day.
