TRANBY WELCOMES NEW HEAD OF PREP SCHOOL

General

When pupils at Tranby Prep School return to school next week, they will be greeted by a new Head. Mrs Catherine Sweeting takes up post on Monday and will oversee all aspects of the running of the Prep School.

She joins Tranby from Pocklington School where was she was Assistant Head (Curriculum). With a degree in Modern Languages (French and German) from the University of Oxford, Mrs Sweeting has worked in primary education for almost 20 years.

Away from teaching, Mrs Sweeting, who was born and bred in East Yorkshire, is a keen sportswoman having represented both Humberside and Great Britain in athletics and cross-country.

On joining Tranby, Mrs Sweeting said:

“Tranby is known for its high academic standards, its focus on individual pupils and for the warmth of its community. I am so pleased to be joining the School and I can’t wait to meet all the pupils and their families. There is so much wonderful work underway at the Prep School and I look forward to working with staff to ensure all pupils are given opportunities to develop their confidence, resilience and independence so that they are well-prepared for a bright future.”

Welcoming Mrs Sweeting to the School, Tranby Headmistress, Alex Wilson said:

“It is a pleasure to welcome Mrs Sweeting to the Tranby family.  She brings with her a wealth of experience in teaching and, importantly, shares our vision to provide our pupils with an exceptional learning experience.  Mrs Sweeting is well-placed to lead the Prep School and to extend and enhance the learning opportunities already on offer here. I look forward to seeing the Prep School flourish under her leadership.”
