Our aim is simple: To bridge the gap between school and the professional world, to ensure you achieve your academic personal best, and to prepare you for life after education.

Our focus is clear: Outstanding teaching from subject experts, helping you grow in confidence, and developing your leadership and professional skills to give you a head start in adulthood.

As well as exam success, you will experience personal growth, your confidence will soar, and when you leave us, you will stand out in a competitive world.

What Makes Tranby sixth form different?

Academics are at the heart of Sixth Form life. You are taught by subject experts who challenge and inspire you to reach your full potential. But that’s just the start. There is so much more to being a young adult than achieving excellent grades.

Future Ready You – Professional Skills

  • The Thursday Project: Every week, you’ll experience life beyond the classroom. From volunteering at local businesses to creating digital content for the Sixth Form, Thursday afternoons are protected for real-world learning.
  • We help you build a professional profile – including a CV, cover letter, and LinkedIn presence – to prepare you for life after Tranby.
  • Weekly Professional Skills lessons cover public speaking, academic writing, referencing, and professional behaviours like teamwork and conflict resolution.

Leadership and Mentoring Opportunities

  • You’ll not only participate in but also lead activities and coach younger pupils - developing confidence and leadership.
  • Sixth Formers take responsibility for organising and running whole-school charity events, building independence and initiative.

Enrichment Beyond the Classroom

Oxbridge-inspired tutoring in subject-specialist groups of two or three will help to deepen your subject understanding, stretch your academic thinking and prepare you for top-tier university applications.
With various co-curricular activities on offer, you’ll have opportunities to expand on classroom learning of your chosen subjects, or explore other interests including:

  • The Tranby Flying Club which is run by Royal Airforce pilots
  • The Tranby Medical Academy, run by Miss Marshall, a graduate of Royal Holloway, University of London
  • The Strength and Conditioning programme in association with local gym TC60 and their Strength and Conditioning experts
  • The Golf Programme in association with Hull Golf Club, Kirk Ella
  • Access to our fully equipped on-site gym, and so much more

Discover Yourself with Tranby Explore

Visits to Russell Group universities inspire you to aim high and make confident, informed decisions about your future. Mini lectures, workshops, tours and chats with lecturers and current students give you a real feel for each subject and university. Seeing the campus, accommodation and social spaces can inspire you to aim for the offer you really want.

At the United Learning COP30 Climate Simulation - held at the Royal Geographical Society – you’ll develop your debating and negotiation skills while collaborating with pupils from across the country.

As well as our exceptional in-house careers fairs, you will be taken to various careers events at leading corporations locally and further afield to help expand your horizons.

At Tranby, you are treated as a young professional. Your ideas are valued, your voice matters, and you’re trusted to help shape the future of the Sixth Form.

Our UCAS success rate speaks for itself: in 2025, 90% of pupils secured their first-choice university.

inspiring A Level and BTEC options

Our Sixth Form is growing, and with it our A-Level provision.

These two years are an opportunity to specialise and play to your strengths, as you prepare for university and a future career. We are finalising our expanded subject offer for 2026, and we welcome conversations with prospective pupils. If there’s a subject you’re passionate about that isn’t listed, please get in touch. Your interests help us shape a Sixth Form that reflects the ambitions of local young adults.

Protecting Your Investment and Valuing Your Trust in Tranby

Parents and carers, we work with you too. Your investment in Tranby is deeply valued and it’s important we provide complete transparency about what this investment means for your child.

You’ll receive a fortnightly progress report for peace of mind that we’re delivering on our promises.
Our Sixth Form combines academic rigour and high expectations with the independence of a college experience. Pupils wear their own business-casual clothing and may leave site during free periods. However, if progress slips, free periods are used within the Sixth Form common room to help them get back on track.

This way, we maintain standards and ensure your investment continues to deliver real results.

Tranby Sixth Form College Fees

£500 per month plus VAT. This reduced fee applies to both years of Sixth Form.  Your fees will not be increased when your child enters their final year.

Beyond Academics: How We Support You

Our class sizes are perfectly suited to providing everyone with a tailored Sixth Form education.

Our teachers understand that one size doesn’t fit all, and smaller groups allow them to personalise their teaching to you.

If you ever feel overwhelmed, need extra support, or need to ask something before your next lesson, our Academic Drop-in Sessions are there to support you outside of regular lessons. These sessions give you dedicated time to ask questions and get help in a supportive, private setting.

You’ll have full access to our SEN provision focused on revision, exams, and UCAS. Whether you’re struggling with how to revise or anxious about exams, we are there with the support and recommendations you need. No pupil should struggle simply because they learn differently.

A culture of respect, kindness and belonging

Our community is built on integrity, bravery and compassion – values that shine through in every lesson, every conversation, and every achievement.

Our pupils are down to earth, humble and open. They come from varying backgrounds and have an eclectic mix of hopes and ambitions. Some have dreams of improving the world through medical excellence, others want to bring joy through performance. But what they each have in common is a belief that their future matters, and a drive to make it count.

At Tranby, we nurture that belief, helping every pupil to grow in confidence, take bold steps forward, and leave us not only ready for university, but ready for life

Application process

Entry into Tranby Sixth Form is highly competitive, and places are offered to those who demonstrate both academic potential and the personal qualities that reflect The Tranby Way.

You will have a relaxed interview with the Head, allowing us to get to know you as an individual, your ambitions, motivations, and the contribution you'll make to our community.
We will request a reference from your current school, including your projected GCSE grades. Offers of places are made conditionally, based on these grades and the outcome of the interview and reference review.

With fees set at just £500 per month plus VAT, demand for places at Tranby Sixth is extremely high.
Entry is selective because the experience is exceptional, and those who join us are joining something truly unique: a professional, inspiring, and transformative bridge between school and the wider world.

Your future starts here

Places are limited. If you are ready to rise to the challenge, we want to hear from you. Have a chat with your parents/guardians and get in touch with us to discover what Tranby can do for you.
