Year 9 Leon up and coming star to the karting scene and joins YRDA

General

Year 9 Leon was invited for an assessment at Arden Motorsport which is run by Christian Horner, who is team principal of Red Bull Racing F1, and Garry and Jamie Horner. Leon impressed ARDEN and was subsequently invited to join their Young Person’s Racing Drivers Academy. Leon has a real passion for F1 motorsport and seems to have “raw talent “ so hopefully he can progress to a professional standard!

Leon is doing really well and impressing the team at ARDEN so long may that continue. He will be attending the academy during school holidays throughout 2022.

YRDA caught up with Leon for a Q&A and here is what he had to say:

How does it feel to be a part of the YRDA?
''I’m really excited about being accepted to Arden’s Young Racing Driver Academy. Having visited the site for my assessment I was very impressed with the set up and looking forward to being part of the team.''

What is your first racing memory?
''It must have been when I was about seven years old when my brother Richard took me to the local Go Karting circuit, I think I was then hooked and haven’t looked back since!''

What are your ambitions and goals for the future?
''Well maybe like a lot of boys of my age, to become an F1 professional racing driver, I realise this is a tall goal but I’m determined, and have the drive to get there.''

4 favourite tracks?
''Imola, Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps, Zanvoort.''

3 favourite racing drivers?
''Lando Norris, Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo.''

2 things you want to achieve?
''Perhaps many more than just two, but to achieve my ambition to become and F1 professional driver and achieve being in the top 5 positions in my 1st season of F1.''

Goal for next season?
''To win the British School Karting Championship 2022 for myself and East Hull Wheels.''

We look forward to seeing how Leon progresses in the future.
