Q&A with Senior Deputy Head, Bill O'Brien-Blake

General

We are pleased to celebrate the start of this term in post of our new Senior Deputy Head, Bill O’Brien-Blake. His career has included teaching and leadership positions across London and the South, as well as a spell in the Middle East. Bill has joined us from an independent girls’ school in Sussex, where he has been Assistant Head since 2018.

A historian and social scientist by background, with degrees from Oxford University and the London School of Economics, Mr O’Brien-Blake will be teaching Economics at A Level as well as some History. He said “It is a privilege to have been appointed Senior Deputy Head of Tranby, and I am very excited to play a part in taking this transformational school forward. With its recent renaming, Tranby is establishing its reputation as an academically rigorous and welcoming school, providing all of its students with success and achievement driven by their passions and goals. From my varied experiences of teaching and leadership, I know the value of aspirational teaching and a steadfast focus on building our students’ understanding of the world, making young women and men prepared for the demands of the world ahead of them.”

Bill caught up with Head Boy, Alexander and Head Girl, Emily for a Q&A to find out a little more about him.
