Year 12 Evelyn competes in England Hockey's Future Cup

Senior and Sixth Form, General

The Futures Cup is run by England Hockey and each squad is looked after by a dedicated Team Manager, and two coaches. Evelyn was selected from one of four squads to represent the North of England where she is a member at Wakefield Hockey Club.

Evelyn attended many training days with her squad to prepare for the tournament. The Futures Cup ran over four days in August where six squads battled it out to be crowned winners. Although the Pennine Pumas didn't win, Evelyn and her team enjoyed four fantastic days of action!

Evelyn said, "It was an absolute honour to represent the North of England with the Pennine Pumas U17 team. I loved every second. It was amazing to be around so many exceptional hockey players playing at such a high quality. Staying in the 'Players Village' with my team was very exciting and getting up at 6:00 am was another experience to embrace and relish. Every day was one to remember. I am, and always will be, forever grateful for everything that I experienced at Futures Cup, from the coaches to the facilities to the matches with my team. I would not have been able to do it without my coaches ongoing and continuous support and the love, commitment, and dedication of my family. I thoroughly enjoyed every second and it will be an experience I will treasure forever. The whole event was filled with the upmost felicity and memorability."

Head of PE, Miss Davis, said, ''I am so proud of Evelyn's dedication to hockey both in School and at her her club. Evelyn has represented Tranby regularly on Saturday morning, playing ladies hockey in the afternoon in addition to representing her club on a Sunday. She deserves the success gained with this high level performance. This is only the beginning of her hockey adventure and we wish her all the success in the world.''
